LA MUERTE

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, demonstrates love and respect for deceased family members.

While the holiday originated in Mexico, it is celebrated all over Latin America with colourful calaveras (skulls), calacas (skeletons) and cempazúchitl (Aztec marigold flowers). Family build home altars called ofrendas with the favourite foods and beverages of the departed and visit graves with these items as gifts for the deceased.
